The 17th of April marked the beginning of the Frülingsfest, the two week spring beer festival of München and the start of some serious beer drinking. Held at the same place at Oktoberfest, Frülingsfest is one of the bigger beer festivals held in München and unlike Oktoberfest most tourists remain ignorant to its existence.
On opening night we put on our new dirndl’s, prayed we wouldn’t pass out from how tight they are and headed down to the festival for a night of beer, pretzels and dancing.
On Monday we headed back to the festival, this time to experience the carnival. The Ferris Wheel brought us views of the whole city and allowed us to realise how big the grounds the festival was on really were.
Then we finished the afternoon with the carnival classic of over sized candyfloss. It was a great way to spend a Monday evening.
The next 10 days brought us back to the festival far to many times, but every night was always a good night. With shared tables we always has a chance to meet new people and with every night we got closer to perfecting our drinking of a maß while dancing on the benches to the traditional German songs.
